Metal Profiles 0.5mm thick 1050A aluminium roof soakers, are a lightweight and stress-free alternative to lead, designed to protect against weather at the point where the tiles/slates of a pitched roof construction meets a vertical face, such as an already existing wall or chimney. The soaker is to be used in conjunction with a cover flashing or other roof covering, which should overlay the soaker to provide a waterproof joint.
Soakers for slates: where this aluminium soaker is used
This 1050A aluminium roof soaker is designed to protect the weather-sensitive junction where pitched roof coverings including slates meet a vertical face such as a wall or chimney. The soaker helps support effective water protection at the interface, provided it’s used with an appropriate cover flashing or compatible roof covering that overlays the soaker to form a waterproof joint.
Protecting the slate-to-wall junction
On slate roofs, water can be channelled at the junction between the slate face and the upstand/wall line. A roof soaker is used as part of that weathertight detail, supporting a safer transition for water run-off. If your project uses a slate system with specific detailing, confirm with Metal Profiles Ltd so the right approach can be confirmed for your roof layout.
